The Messenger

Basic Details

The first Georgian Messenger was published on February 25, 1919, during the first independent democratic republic of Georgia (1911-18-1911). On February 25, 1921, the Russian Bolsheviks occupied Georgia. Elizabeth Orbeliani was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper at the time. The original Georgian Messenger was a weekly newspaper with only 13 issues.

The paper was revived in October 1990, after Georgia gained independence from the Soviet Union. The Georgian Messenger was then published irregularly under Iraqi Kinchoshvili until August 1993.
