Le Monde

Basic Details

Le Monde is a French daily afternoon newspaper. It is the original publication of the Le Monde Group and reported an average of 323,099 copies per issue in 2009, of which about 40,000 were sold overseas. It has had its own website since December 19, 1995, and is often the only French newspaper readily available in non-French-speaking countries. It is considered a French newspaper of record, including Liberation and Le Figaro. It should not be confused with the monthly publication Le Monte Diplomat, of which Le Monte owns 51%, but which is editorially independent.
