Sakala is an Estonian-language daily newspaper first published in Belezendi on 18 March 1878 by Carl Robert Jacobson, one of the leading figures of the 19th century Estonian national awakening.
Sakala was Estonia's first political newspaper. It was the most popular newspaper among Estonians in the late 19th century. Today it is the local newspaper of Viljandi County.
The Sakala Masthead logo was designed by Edward Magnus Jacobson.
