Istan Diario is one of the leading newspapers in the Dominican Republic and is still the oldest published. Liston Diario, founded on 1 August 18 by Arturo Pelrano Alpha and Julian Atilis, two successful businessmen who tried to inform the general public about the arrival and departure of ships in Dominican ports. Soon after, Liston Diario Maratimo became a one-page broadsheet magazine, printed from the Pelrano and Itile offices in the colonial area of ​​Santo Domingo. Venezuelan writer and poet Andres Mata was its editor for a time.
