The first edition of EL JAYA appeared on November 20, 1985, as a result of the planning and work carried out for months by its founders, journalists Adriano Cruz Marte, Dionisio Nuñez Mendoza and the announcer Welcome Santos Morel (Tágara).

The opening paragraph of its first editorial states “the EL JAYA journalistic project arises as a written communication service company in order to fill the void that is felt in this area in a community like San Francisco de Macorís with great economic and social dynamics, political and cultural ”.
