Radio Svaboda's mission is to support democratic values and institutions by disseminating information and ideas. From Central Europe to the Pacific, from the Baltic to the Black Sea, from Russia to Central Asia and the Persian Gulf, peoples are fighting against autocratic authorities, human rights abuses, centralized economies, national and religious hostility, regional conflicts and media control. Stability throughout the region - based on the principles of democracy and the free market - is the key to world peace. Convinced that the first prerequisite for democracy is a well-informed society and a half-century-old tradition of alternative broadcasting in the region.
