Somay Television is a 24 hour Bangla television channel in Bangladesh. It is headquartered at 89, Bir Uttam CR Dutt Road, Banglamotor, Karachi. It has a broadcasting NOC license from the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Following a test run on October 10, 2010, it has been aired commercially since April 1, 2011. Bangladesh Somay TV received official permission to broadcast in October 2009. It started a test transition on October 10, 2010 and has been broadcast commercially since April 1, 2011.
On January 1, 2014, unidentified persons threw a bomb at the official car of Somay TV in Chittagong city and injured the driver. Journalists of the network have blamed the workers of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir.
On April 1, 2015, Bangladesh police seized Somay TV's transmission equipment outside the office of former Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
In May 2016, drug traffickers insulted Somai TV Cox's Bazar District Correspondent Sujauddin Rubel for his report on drug trafficking.
In September 2011, Bangladesh's Attorney General Mahbubey Alam filed a complaint with the Bangladesh Supreme Court in a commentary on a TV show featuring Mir Qasim Ali's war crimes trial. Somoy TV was forced to submit a copy of the show to the court.
On November 30, 2017, Land Minister's son Shamsur Rahman Sharif attacked and injured four journalists, including one from Somay TV.
