Daily Khowai

Basic Details

Daily Khowai started its journey on October 12, 1991 as 'Weekly Khowai'. Daily Khowai's new journey began on October 25, 2005, after 14 years of success. The biggest achievement of ‘Khowai’ in this path is the confidence of the readers. But Khowai's journey has not been easy. The late Alhaj Azizur Rahman, a prominent businessman, social worker and politician of Habiganj, thought of publishing the first newspaper in 1986. But at that time, due to the lack of a capable partner to take overall responsibility, his dream remained a dream. In mid-1967 he again took the initiative to publish a newspaper from Habiganj city. For this he has given dharnas many times in different government departments in Habiganj and Dhaka. But he could not realize his dream due to the strict attitude of the then dictatorial Ershad government towards newspaper declaration. Alhaj Azizur Rahman died on 14 September 1990. On the other hand, after the fall of the Ershad government in December 1990, when the rules of newspaper declaration were relaxed, 'Saptahik Khowai' got clearance. The name 'Khowai' was the favorite of Alhaj Azizur Rahman.

When Khowai started its journey as a weekly, 3 weekly newspapers from Habiganj were published in letter press. From the very beginning we had an unquenchable desire to publish magazines offset through computer composing. But it was extremely difficult. Because going to Dhaka every week and doing all the work of the newspaper and publishing it regularly was quite adventurous. We didn't know how to compose the magazine, the makeup, how and where. Initially, executive editor Rahat Chowdhury and news editor Harunur Rashid Chowdhury were involved in publishing Khowai. Daily Ittefaq has a number of issues, including the inaugural issue. Hassan Shahriar, the then eminent journalist of Ittefaq, the next president of the National Press Club, and the President of the Commonwealth Journalists Association, has sincerely collaborated in various ways, including makeup and news headlines. Weekly Khowai has been published from Dhaka for 10 consecutive years. Strikes, blockades, natural disasters, nothing could stop the publication of 'Khowai'. This is also the infinite grace of Allah.

Khowai is the first to publish a magazine in modern technology in Habiganj. Khowai recently went one step further on the path to modernity by publishing an online version. Thanks to the internet, daily khowai has now spread all over the world. In particular, all the residents of greater Sylhet, including Habiganj, who are living in different countries of the world, so that they can read the news of the remote area of Habiganj in a distant exile, that is why we are organizing this event. The founder of Khowai, the late Alhaj Azizur Rahman, had a dream that Khowai would develop further. Will move forward. We will not hesitate to take any steps to improve the quality of Khowai's print edition, including the online version. I would like to assure our countless readers and well-wishers that Daily Khowai will always be faithful to the truth and beauty.
