Bangladesh Television

Basic Details

Briefly known as BTV, Bangladesh Television is a state-owned television network in Bangladesh. 19 Pakistan64 On December 25, it started broadcasting as Pakistan Television in East Pakistan. After independence in 1971, it was renamed as Bangladesh Television. Broadcasting began in full color in 1960. About 1 million television networks receive transmissions from 12 relay stations.

BTV has a national channel which broadcasts from Dhaka to Dhaka. The transmission is relayed across the country through local relay stations in major cities of the country. Chittagong also has a regional station that broadcasts local programs in the evenings. In the mid-nineties, the national TV channel BBC and CNN began broadcasting news programs. In 2004, BTV began broadcasting worldwide through its satellite-based branch, BTV World.


BTV is primarily financed through television license fees. Although it has produced many award-winning programs, it has often been criticized by the ruling government for its lack of mouthpieces and quality entertainment programs.


The 1st BTV serial Natun Bari aired in 1973 or 1974.
